As basic pieces of scuba diving equipment, a mask, fins, suit, and snorkel are essential for a safe and fun underwater adventure. Another piece of gear that is essential is a breathing device. A breathing device will help a diver to breath underwater when an air supply is unavailable.

Some types of scuba diving equipment should be custom fit for individual divers. Custom fitting is necessary for masks, fins, and suits. But it is also optional for all of the other types of scuba diving equipment.

Scuba diving equipment can be purchased or rented. It can usually be purchased on the internet and in local dive shops. Local dive will have knowledgeable staff ready and willing to answer tough questions that internet sites may not satisfy.
